“Brazil” or “1984 and a half”
July 5th, 2008 by tuvw148“I do feel it’s a meaningful movie with a very entertaining expression. ” thereinto the sentence “do and feel “was good for me to study,I think commom process tense,so add “do ” in front of “feel”.
Anyway, it’s a masterpiece and I strongly recommend it to everyone of you, especially those who feel the impotence of human beings in the modern society for their chords surely would be struck by the movie.
From the enlightment, human beings are dreaming to have an orderly world where everything is in order and so everybody is happy. But the movie challenged this kind of optimism, the plot happens in a very modern society and everything is put in order. It also emphasize a significant problem of modern society, namely division of labour. Every person is a tiny piece of the whole social machine, 12530 it can do nothing without some kind of cooperative tool, such as forms that connect different departments together. In the movie, 12530 whatever you want to do, you should first fill some application forms. A so-called terrorist 12530 Tuttle complained with a sense of irony :”Listen, this old system of yours could be on fire and I couldn’t even turn on the kitchen tap without filling out a 27b/6…12530. Bloody paperwork.”(Tuttle was trying to fix the apartment owner’s air conditioner, and 27b/6 is a kind of application form he should fill before he could turn on the kitchen tap). It’s surely not what we, as human beings, dreamed about. But in the movie, only some “terrorists” , who are romantic, maintained the original sense of themselves. The others simply get submersed in the paper work and forget they are more human than a part of a huge machine. The protagonist frequently get a similar dream, 12530 in which he is an angel flying in the sky before he saw a beautiful woman locked in a cage, many ugly people guarded the cage. He jumped down, kicked them away, and fight a black giant who is 10 times larger than him. 12530 The giant is undoubtedly a symbol of modern society, and differnt from our illusion, it’s totally out of control.
Yesterday I watched a movie named “Brazil”, I do feel it’s a meaningful movie with a very entertaining expression.
In my opinion, the movie also have some shortages. The most important one is it over-emphasized bureaucratism which make the subject of the movie less distinct.
